First Round Decisions
After you have completed your application, the A Better Chance Program Team will review it and make one of the following three decisions:
1) ACCEPTED to the COHORT - The A Better Chance Admission Committee believes that you are a student who could be successfully placed at one of our Member Schools. During the summer and the fall months we will work with you towards possible referrals. Please note that during this stage of the process, students who have experienced a noticeable decline in academic performance, extremely poor performance on standardized tests, or a decline in behavior may be asked to leave the cohort. It’s important to note that being accepted to the Cohort does not mean you have become an A Better Chance Scholar. You only become an A Better Chance Scholar when you actually enroll in one of our Member Schools.
2) DENY - The A Better Chance Admission Committee believes that your application would not be competitive at any of our Member Schools for this season and, as such, we will not refer it this year. If you still fit our eligibility requirements, you can re-apply next year.
3) WAITLIST - The A Better Chance Admission Committee believes you have potential, but will not accept you to the Cohort immediately because there are some things that you could do to strengthen your candidacy. For instance, we may want to see grades from an additional marking period or the results of recent state standardized tests. If you receive a letter like this you should talk to your program manager about what additional evidence you may be able to provide to improve your chances of being accepted to the cohort.
You will be notified of our decision in the form of an email or you can check your status by logging in to your account after June 15.
