Better Chance

First Round Decisions

After you have completed your application, the A Better Chance Program Team will review it and make one of the following three decisions:

a) Refer - You are qualified to attend at least one of our Member Schools. We will send your application to appropriate schools and advocate on your behalf. Please note that being referred does not mean you are "accepted to A Better Chance." We cannot guarantee that any schools will accept you and/or provide sufficient financial aid. You only become an A Better Chance Scholar when you actually enroll in one of our Member Schools.

b) Deny - Your application would not be competitive at any of our Member Schools. We will not refer it this year. If you still fit our eligibility requirements, you can re-apply next year.

c) Wait-list - You have potential. We will not refer your application immediately. Perhaps if you re-take a standardized test and your score improves or if you demonstrate improvement in the following school semester, we will be able to refer it in the future. Other times, our Member Schools ask us for applicants with particular qualities. If you fit their guidelines, we will refer your application.

You will be notified of our decision in the form of a letter. Applicants who are referred to both boarding and day schools will actually receive two referral letters. These letters will tell you the names and locations of all the schools you have been referred to.
