A Better Chance Cares
|Care packages fully assembled
On a Saturday afternoon in May, a number of parents convened at a local Panera Bread in Brooklyn, Ohio toting granola bars, soup, chocolate bars, gummy bears, post-it notes, and sharpies. These parents are part of a growing number of volunteers showing our hard-working Scholars a little extra support during the school year!
Throughout the U.S. parents and A Better Chance staff members are forming assembly lines and filling colorful gift bags with goodies and inspirational handwritten notes. These care packages are then mailed off to A Better Chance Scholars at critical times during the school year. “We are letting them know how proud we are and wishing them good luck on upcoming finals,” said Regina Jolly Espenschied, Program Manager for the Midwest Region. In her region, Malley’s Chocolates donated local confectionary treats to Scholars.
Parents and staff were thrilled at the overwhelming response from Scholars. “Thank you for the care package. It really helped me get through finals and I greatly appreciate it,” wrote Yuval Thuroff (George School, 2016), and Nicholas John (The Lawrenceville School, 2015) wrote, “Thanks to all the parents who helped bring it all together.”
