Prospective Scholars who have reached Step 2 of the process and have been referred to one or more of our Member Schools are invited to attend regional Referral Information Nights.
Remember: A Better Chance cannot guarantee that your child will be accepted to a school. We will advocate for your child, but there are steps that you must take to increase his/her chances. Referral Nights are extremely important events for candidates and their families to learn more about the second phase of the process, including strategies for improving their chances of acceptance.
Program Managers will talk about the following critical aspects of the application process:
FOLLOWING-UP WITH SCHOOLS - School admissions officers are looking for canddiates who are enthusiastic about their school. You will learn how to communicate with your referred schools so that you will be seen as an eager but not overbearing candidate.
INTERVIEW SKILLS - By conducting mock interviews, applicants will get the chance to see good examples of proper interview etiquette and to strengthen weak points.
DRESS TO IMPRESS - Clothes don't make the man, but they can definitely make the interview. Applicants will discuss appropriate dress and behavior for school visits.
GREAT EXPECTATIONS - Families will learn the expectations of admission staff, including the importance of timely response to communication and the need for regular follow-up in the application process.
FINANCIAL AID - Participants will review the financial aid process, talk about possible alternative sources for assistance and appropriate ways to negotiate for increased assistance where needed.
DEALBREAKERS - Applicants will learn proper etiquette surrounding admission offers, including the value of integrity in the process and mistakes that stop applicants from successfully being placed in a Member School.
