Better Chance

Each spring, A Better Chance sponsors College Planning Workshops through its regional offices.  These events provide a wealth of information to families of our current Scholars about things that they need to know about the college admissions process.

Sections of the workshop are led by college admissions professionals, who will share information about their own institutions, but will also speak about the college application process in general.  Other highlights of the program include:

MOCK ADMISSIONS COMMITTEE - where parents and Scholars go through a series of fake applications and see how it is possible to make your Scholar stand out in the admissions process.

SAT PREPARATION - like it or not, the SAT is a major gatekeeper in the college admissions process for many elite schools.  Scholars will be offered some pointers for improving their scores on the SAT and will learn about resources for self-study to continue to prepare for the test

FINANCIAL AID -   The DOs and DON’Ts - we will make sure that our families are aware of the importance of financial aid deadlines for college and how to ensure that Scholars have the best chance to get scholarships and financial aid for school.

Regardless of how far away it may appear that your child is from applying to college, you don't want to miss this annual event.  Stay tuned to the A Better Chance calendar for more information about when the College Planning Workshop will take place in your region.  Please plan to attend!
