Better Chance

Once families have made one great decision in preparing their child for college by sending them to a great college-preparatory school, it just seems logical that the next step is to start thinking about how to successfully matriculate into a great college. Every other summer, A Better Chance, working in conjunction with CECAAL, provides college tours so that Scholars can begin to explore their options for after they graduate from their Member Schools.  Most colleges that are visited are Affiliated Colleges, meaning that they are among the schools that accept most of our Scholars after graduation from their respective schools.

Students that are going to be in grades 9-12 the following year are eligible to register for the college tours.  Our rising juniors and seniors learn about what they need to do to apply right now, and our rising freshmen and sophomores learn what they can do to have the best college applications possible in a few years.

During the summer of 2012, A Better Chance will launch one tour, departing from Philadelphia.  The total cost for this trip is $800. The fees cover the costs of chartered bus transportation, two meals a day, hotel accommodations, an amusement park trip at the end of the week, tour materials and a few surprises along the way. Parents should enroll as soon as possible by completing the registration forms for the trip and paying a $300 non-refundable deposit to reserve a seat. Seats are generally assigned on a first-come, first-serve basis, and parents who are active participants in their local Parents-as-Partners clubs in New York City, Philadelphia, Atlanta, Oakland and Los Angeles will be given priority for registration.

To reserve a seat for the 2012 College Tour, please return the registration forms, along with your deposit, to:
