Better Chance

Charles and Karen Couric Scholarship / Duke University
One scholarship, guaranteed to replace any loans included in the student's aid award, will be awarded each year to an outstanding student selected from the pool of A Better Chance Scholars applying for admission to Duke. The total loan replacement could exceed $22,000 over four years. The Charles and Karen Couric Scholarship will make it possible for the recipient to graduate debt-free from Duke University.

In addition to the four-year award (discussed above) which will go to one student, the Couric Scholarship will award grants covering freshman year loan replacement (approximately $5,000) to each A Better Chance student entering Duke in the Fall.  This will make it possible for every A Better Chance student entering Duke to make it through their first year debt-free.
Duke University meets 100% of the demonstrated financial need of all admitted students. For more information, contact: Ms. Nancy Austin, Office of Admissions
