As the chief advocate, spokesperson, and fundraiser, the CEO will help the organization capitalize on its national brand in the space of diversity and inclusion and educational access, positioning A Better Chance as a key strategic partner to organizations of all types.
This leader will be the foremost strategist for the organization, constantly evaluating the growing landscape of the sector and the needs of students and society to ensure A Better Chance’s delivers a distinctive offering and relevant, unique, and impactful programming. The CEO should be a thought leader with demonstrated skills and experience that translate to A Better Chance’s critical work in secondary education and diversity and inclusion. This next leader will steward ABC and its talented team as it adapts to the next exciting chapter in its more than 50 year history.
A key priority for the CEO will be to grow philanthropic support of the organization. A Better Chance enjoys solid and consistent funding, bolstered by a generous gift from Oprah Winfrey establishing A Better Chance’s endowment, which has been important for sustaining the organization. There is significant potential to diversify development efforts, particularly with regard to individual alumni philanthropy and foundation support. The CEO will be a key leader in this regard, ensuring A Better Chance’s long-term sustainability and growth.

The CEO oversees a team of almost 30 located in New York and in regional locations across the country. The CEO is responsible for the financial resource development, marketing, community relations, and fiscal and budgetary management.
