Reach and Impact
A Better Chance is the oldest and only national organization of its kind serving more than 2,200 students in 14 metropolitan hubs.
In 2019, we celebrated the placement of 471 Scholars into college preparatory schools. The tremendous potential of these Scholars to impact our world, and the sheer scope of the number of lives they will touch, are what set A Better Chance apart among organizations that support talented students of color to realize their great potential.
Our success would not be possible without the 700 volunteers who make every aspect of A Better Chance possible. Our volunteers are current Scholars, parents, Alumni, school leaders, community members, corporate leaders and employees. Our nationwide network of volunteers helps in so many ways – logisitical planning, delivery of program events, advocacy within their communities, administrative work, fundraising and serving on advisory panels.
A Better Chance's small but mighty team of 18 staff works passionately to make a rigorous education accessible to more and more talented youth of color – transforming individual lives and entire communities along the way.
Over 16,000 of our Alumni have graduated from our program to become policy makers, CEOs, academics, innovators and more. We are proud of their work and accomplishments - and we all enjoy a better world with them leading the way.
