Virtual Interview Day
A Better Chance is excited to announce the opportunity for supporters of A Better Chance to participate in the 2020 A Better Chance Virtual Interview Days! Interview Day(s) have traditionally been held in person across the country, but due to COVID-19, we will host the event virtually this year. In order to do this successfully, we need volunteers to help us provide interview feedback and opportunities for practice so A Better Chance students are as prepared as possible to succeed in the independent school admissions process.
Interview Day Process
Attend Volunteer Training: A Better Chance staff will host a volunteer training (30-45 min.) to prepare you for your volunteer experience.
Watch Pre-recorded Student Interviews: Volunteers for Interview Days will begin their volunteer experience by watching 10 pre-recorded student interviews conducted during the 2020 A Better Chance Summer Leadership Academy this summer. These interviews are between 5-10 minutes each.
Pre-recorded Interview Feedback: Volunteers will be given a feedback sheet for each pre-recorded student interview they watch. That feedback will be provided to the students as they prepare for Interview Days
Interview Days: Volunteers will meet (to the extent schedules allow) the students whose pre-recorded interviews they watched in a live group interview session. A Better Chance staff will provide each volunteer with a format for the group interview that will allow volunteers and students to interact.
Post-Interview Day Feedback: Volunteers will provide the students they met and interviewed with feedback and encouragement to use as students complete interviews in the independent school admissions process.
